Get ready for another fantastic season of Upward Basketball at Poplar Springs! We are thrilled to offer basketball to boys and girls in Kindergarten through the 8th grade. Our goal is to offer a program to the community that focuses on sharing and creating gospel opportunities while teaching the game of basketball.
Online registration for Upward Basketball opens Monday, September 1st. Kindergarten – 4th grade leagues will be COED, 5th – 8th grade will have a boys league and girls league. League breakdown by grade is below.

Kindergarten
Practice on Sunday afternoons with games on Saturday mornings. Coed League
1st & 2nd Grade
Practice one day/week (Sunday, Monday or Tuesday) with games on Saturdays. Coed League
3rd & 4th Grade
Practice one day/week (Sunday, Monday or Tuesday) with games on Saturdays. Coed League
5th & 6th Grade
Practice one day/week (Sunday, Monday or Tuesday) with games on Saturdays. Boys League and Girls League.
7th & 8th Grade
Practice one day/week (Sunday, Monday or Tuesday) with games on Saturdays. Boys League and Girls League.

Early Registration Fee: $75
(thru October 12)
Regular Registration Fee: $85
(after October 12)
Registration fee includes t-shirt, jersey and end of season gift.
Teams
Upward basketball teams are formed based on evaluations that take place on November 2nd OR 3rd. Each player will complete drills with and without the basketball – dribbling, shooting and shuffling. The scores given will help form competitive teams. All players MUST perform an evaluation in order to be placed on a team. Kindergarten - 4th grade teams will be coed, 5th - 8th grade will have boys teams and girls teams.
Games
Games begin on January 3, 2026 and go for 8 consecutive Saturdays. A game schedule is provided at least 2 weeks in advance of the first game. Games last approximately one hour. Our Concession Stand will be open to benefit our Mission Trip to Standing Rock Indian Reservation in Little Eagle, SD.
Volunteers
We always need coaches!! If you have any basketball knowledge, OR are just energetic and fun, we can pair you with an experienced co-coach. We will also need referees! We will meet for training for both coaches and referees.
